Public speaking is a marketing communication. Whether you are influencing people to adopt an idea, buy a product, invest in a service or make a change in their life, you are in sales. Mastering the art and science of selling from the stage will increase your profits quicker than just about any other way. You've got a captive audience of your target market all there waiting to be inspired and influenced by you.
Here's the problem, though. A lot of heart-centered entrepreneur speakers struggle with marketing from the platform and end up botching the opportunity. As one who used to be sales-averse myself, I have a personal and deep understanding of this stuck point. That is exactly why I created the Speak with HEART Market with SOUL System™.
The "S" stands for "Seeding" and it is one of the steps in what I call my “SWAT System” (Selling With Authenticity and Transparency.) With this system, you’ll not only make lots more money, but you’ll also earn a reputation for integrity.
There are 12 steps in the SWAT System to make selling from the stage seamless, simple and soft. If you just start with this one step, you’ll be well on your way to making lots more money. You can get the other eleven steps this fall in my Speak to Profit training program.
Step 1 – Prepare the Garden – Begin with the end in mind. To get the best fruit (sales), prepare the soil and plant the seeds from the start. Most people think they are selling when they tack a pitch onto the end of their talk. That is not using the SWAT System. Instead, plant seeds that will take root and produce fruits naturally later on.
For example, early on in my talks I incorporate a simple statement something to the effect of “I’m going to cover as much as I can in the limited time we have, and then I promise to show you how you can turn this new knowledge into lasting results.” It’s completely authentic and transparent – nothing covert.
Another way to seed is to use a foundational phrase that establishes the value of training in the very beginning. For example, sometimes I use the foundational phrase "To get to where you want to go, you have to do something different than you've already done." It sets them up to be open to a new opportunity for growth and learning.
