Tips will help you get started and there’s so much more available to you to help you consistently speak to profit.
Let’s jump in. When I say Speak with H.E.A.R.T., yes I’m talking about coming from the heart with genuine interest and purest intentions. However, it’s one thing to SAY “speak with heart” and another thing to DO “speak with heart.”
Today I’m going to cover the “H.” “H” is for Humanity – your humanity.
Your humanity is your story of relatability to your audience. It’s your own points of pain that you overcame. It let’s them know that yes, you have a vulnerable side, and yes, you understand where they – your listeners – are coming from. When you reveal a bit of your humanity, your listeners connect with you and think “Hey, I have a similar problem in my life, too. I’m going to tune in and listen to this guy/gal.”
Here are a few do’s and don’ts for sharing your humanity:
- Do keep it BRIEF! In networking you can do this in about 15 seconds, believe it or not. In a 30 minute presentation you have about 60 seconds to do it.
- Don’t ramble on about what a mess you were. This is not an opportunity to dump on them with your sob story.
- Do describe to them how the principles you teach, your system/method or the products you offer made all the difference in turning your situation around.
Here’s an example…
“I used to be one of those people who was burned out on ineffective networking, unfruitful speaking gigs and impotent online videos, but when I started applying the principles of what I now call my Speak with H.E.A.R.T. Market with S.O.U.L. system, all of that turned around in just a few short months. Now I devote my energy to helping other entrepreneurs do the same.” (About 10 seconds on the Humanity and 5 seconds turning it around.)
