4 Baby Steps to Empower Your Voice In Any Situation

August 27, 2014 By dinah Leave a Comment

Many women and some men, too, have the sense that they are in some way “playing small” – hiding out, holding back and tempering their voices…And it’s keeping them from navigating the world from their authentic power, truth and presence…as well as preventing them from attracting and getting what they want out of life.

No one is cut out for hiding who they are, shrinking from their greatness or withholding their insight.  Our souls are too wise for that.  It takes enormous energy to keep a lid on your authentic expression and it won’t make you successful.

Whether you are a speaker, a leader or a consciousness seeker, when you tap into your soul’s voice and express it outward, your message becomes compelling, your leadership engaging and your decisions empowering…and so much more.

So how do you start to untie the knots of suppression and unleash the wise and powerful inner voice?

It begins with noticing…

And your body, voice and thoughts can provide you with ample information.

First, take a moment to think of a situation in your business where you have a sense you are holding back your voice – perhaps in an effort to not be seen as too big for your britches or perhaps not wanting to cause a stir.  Got it in mind? Now, do a…

Body check

With that situation in mind, what information is your body giving you?  Where in your body do you stuff your voice?  The throat, shoulders and gut are all places people commonly hold the contraction of suppressing their voice.  Notice your particular place and breathe into it until the tension softens.

Voice check

What do you really want to say in this situation? Not blaming or chewing someone out – but what part of you needs to be heard – your soul’s truth, your inner wisdom, your heartfelt desire?  Speak it out loud to yourself.  Getting it out of your body will begin to transform it.

Thought check

What are you imagining will happen if you express yourself?  What are three positive outcomes that could result from you speaking your truth?  By not expressing yourself, what or whose needs are you prioritizing?  There’s no right or wrong here.  You are just gathering information from within.

Decision check

What decision do you want to make around speaking up or out? Is there a courageous conversation that you are ready to initiate?  Is there a bold statement to the world you are ready to make?

Empowering your voice in one situation has a tendency to flow out to other areas of your life and business, too.  Where else might you be holding back in your communication?  Money conversations?  Public speaking?  Leading your team?  Asking for support?

The more you give yourself permission to listen to your soul’s voice, speak your truth and express yourself powerfully in the world, the more you will magnetize matching energy and experiences to you… and you liberate others to do the same.

Ready to unleash your authentic voice???  Stay tuned!
